Let's Pay It Forward Together: Will you help me change the world, one kind deed at a time?
Serial Reciprocity From 100 Day Challenge by Gary Ryan Blair
Have you ever heard of 'Serial Reciprocity'?
Serial reciprocity is providing benefits to someone other than the original benefactor.
In serial reciprocity, individuals 'pay it forward' instead of paying it back.
The idea is an altruistic one where no one knows what you have done. It is a an anonymous gift from yourself to another.
I taught confirmation classes for each of my three sons and one project I had them do was to make a plaque that said:
God has given you talents and what you do with those talents creates a gift both to Him and to others.
Have you ever seen the movie 'Pay it Forward'?
I recommend you watch it. An 8 year old boy participates in a school project and creates the ultimate giving scenario. Watch this on Netflix and see what he creates.
Do one kind deed daily? ~ Put on your calendar NOV 13th World Kindness Day ~
I suggest that we all do one kind deed for someone in our community each day. It can be paying for the coffee or tea for the individual standing in line behind you or if you have the means, pay for the groceries of a Mom with children in line behind you at the grocery store or give the clerk $20 towards her groceries help an elderly neighbor during winter by shoveling their drive and walk early in morning. I am sure you will think of someway to share your talents with another person or your community.
Here is a business I have been acquainted with in Chicago. Greer is a nice small unique stationary shop, with a wonderful story, that sells 'Civility Cards'. They are cards about the size of a business card and on one side are sayings such as: Thank you, I am sorry, You are nice, I appreciate you etc. and on the other side is says: Pay it Forward. This card reminds the person you gave it to, to do a nice deed for someone else in the future. Check them out at: www.GreerChicago.com
This is not an altruistic process, but; the civility cards are a nice way to Pay It Forward and to remind others to do the same.
You could also pick up a piece of trash as you are walking along during your day. If we all did this small deed, think what a cleaner place we would have to live in and would create a cleaner environment for all.
Let's work together to make our world a better place one kind deed at a time.
